HARTFORD, Conn. -- Hartford police are looking for help from the public to find the driver police said struck a 78-year-old man in Hartford on May 30.
Police found Angel Torres, of Hartford, on the ground in front of 33 Park St. Friday, May 30, at approximately 5:45 p.m. Torres had suffered head injuries when he was hit by a car, police said.
He was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he is in critical condition and is paralyzed from the neck down.
Witnesses reported that two vehicles were driven recklessly north on Main Street.
A blue or black older model Honda was chasing the front vehicle, described as a tan older model Toyota, police said. The vehicles ran a red traffic light on Main Street, took a left onto Park St., crossed the centerline and drove against the traffic, police said. The Honda struck Torres in front of 33 Park Street, police said.
The Hartford Police Crime Scene Division is investigating. Police released a video clip Wednesday showing the vehicles.
